About Us

We are a group of people living in and around Amersham who, for a variety of reasons, find ourselves on our own. We never ask anyone’s age but our members range from 60 upwards.

The Club is non-profit making with all events arranged by the members for the members so we can enjoy the company of like-minded people and forge new friendships.

COMPANY has a wide and varied quarterly programme of events including meals out, house parties, theatre trips, quizzes, dinner dances, weekends away and regular Sunday walks with a Pub lunch as the sweetener. Have a look at our current programme to get a better idea of our activities. You will find something to interest everyone and it is a great way to make new friends who share common interests.

Over the years some members have met new partners – in fact some have even got married – but everyone has enlarged their circle of friends and interests.

Our Aim

Is to provide opportunities for members to get out and about, make friends and have fun.

How The Club Runs

We have a committee of up to 7 members voted in at the AGM held in April each year. Amongst other things they organise and arrange for printing of the quarterly programme of event offers compiled by different members each quarter. The current programme can be seen on our website, so click on Current Events to have a look at some of the things you could be enjoying. Inevitably our activities were severely curtailed throughout the Covid restrictions but we have recently put together this new programme of events. The programme immediately before Covid struck remains on the website as an indication of the variety in normal times.

History

COMPANY was formed in 1978 by Cecil Dawes and Hazel Eaglestone when they recognised a local need for a social club for single people living outside London. Sadly, both our founders are no longer with us but their enthusiasm and ethos continues.

Currently our membership stands at just over 80. Inevitably some are more active than others but we ask that all members organise a minimum of 1 event each year. There is of course no limit to how many you can attend.
